The physical features of the earth are different at its various parts. The earth is surrounded by air. It has been a living planet because of the availability of oxygen, water and land. These factors have contributed to the formation of a natural environment. There is also a variation in the natural environment in the earth. Because of the variation of natural environment there is diversity in animals, birds and organisms. The caring for the earth means to conserve all the physical and biological aspects of the earth. Its objective is to provide an opportunity to continue the life of all the living beings. This will take place only if all the elements of sphere either living or non-living are properly protected. The world conservation strategy was formulated in 1980 A.D. It has described the policies related to the conservation of world natural resources and sustainable development. It has helped in making essential basis required to carry out developmental and conservational activities in an integrated way. On this basis, the policy and programmes for caring the earth can be prepared. The world conservation strategy has guided all to be involved in the earth conservation programme. The strategy “Caring for the Earth for sustainable Development” is formulated for the execution of world conservation strategy effectively. A document containing the strategy for caring the earth was published by the joint effort of IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and World Wildlife Fund(WWF). These agencies have emphasized to implement the principles of sustainable development worldwide. The government, international agencies, non-governmental organizations, etc have supported the strategy of caring for earth.

The strategy for caring for the earth has given emphasis to run conversational and developmental activities in the integrated way. The developmental activities of the people should help to bring the improvement in life standard of human beings. But the developmental activities should not bring the negative effect on the status of the earth. This strategy emphasizes the creation of sustainable life. Thus, the caring for the earth is the feeling of “live and let live” and the conservation of all living and nonliving things of atmosphere, lithosphere and hydrosphere is related with biosphere of the earth.
